Blu- ray system unlike the DVD Zone 0. Either way one needs to restart the player to set the desired region - no such thing as inserting different zone disc and the player does its job to play like Multi- zone DVD player. From the way I read the manual the player is DVD region free out the box, but to play bluray discs from different regions you have to punch in the code to set it to a certain region. BL disk from the local JB Hi.

Fi or Target or Big W or Coles/Woolies? I should have clarified, I also have Panasonic bluray player (bought from JB) that I use to play any DVD/Bluray's bought in Australia or Amazon UK. That's correct, I had to email Kogan to get that information (at the time anyway)AFAIK the BL players require the code to change the region if it's designed to be changed – some are from factory while others will need the mod chip installed by user. Unlike DVD format, BL format has no multi- region or Zone 0 hence the need for the code to change.

It is not as user friendly as DVD set for Zone 0 but the studios behind BL format have learned the lesson from DVD hence the omission of such zone/region although on the flip side we now have much smaller regions compared to DVD.
